WLR reported on the news that Cartamundi in Waterford will be closing by the end of August 2023. The plant employees 234 at the moment and this will be a big loss for them and for the community of Waterford.
The Waterford community has seen hard times like this before with the closure of Waterford Crystal being one of those times. Because of these harder times the community has always come together to help one another out. Now with the regeneration of the Waterford Crystal building and it now being part of SETU Waterford we’re hoping many more jobs will be created. At Cill Barra, Waterfords Community Gym, we want to be part of the regeneration of Waterford and help where we can in developing the local area. We are an essential resource already and we believe that the community resources are key to this regeneration.
